It has to do mostly with the metallic mixing that drives the price up. Also PPG is quite expensive but one of the best on the market.

I have three colors I have been mulling over for the last three years.

Techno violet, Sepang and Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze. For the latter I would just get the paint code and have my buddy mix it up for me at Colours.

That's not paint, it's labor making it so expensive. It seems like body shops don't really want to do much body work any more. I also think that is why ours and other older cars are so quick to be totalled.

PPG Royal Blue is about $800 for base/clear plus hardener. Plus primer, sandpaper tape, new seals, ect.. I figure I'll have around $2000 in material plus a about 100-200 hours in labour on mine. Just don't have space in my shop to start on in yet.

There is a lot of r3v stuck in the dark corners of my mind. It just flashes into my minds eye when I see an obscure reference to something.

Same here, but 20 minutes of searching without results usually happens, and I just give up.

Dirt cheap. I just picked up some PPG Silver for a friend's car with the homeboy hookup at $300...and still don't have enough to shoot the car. Paint is out of freaking control. Don't get me started on clear.

That's the main reason I haven't resprayed my car yet. I can't justify the $1K I'll have in materials alone.
