    Cabrio Interior Swap Question

Can I take the interior from a later model power top car and install it in my 87 manual top?
There is no cut out for the top release but can I not just use the original piece to mark where it needs to be cut and use a dremel?
Or did BMW change things and it won't work?
    Has anyone done this before?
    Thanks,

    It's all interchangeable.

BDK, If I remember correctly, your panel is embossed on the back side where the cutout should be. What Lair said +1. Good luck.

It's not exactly interchangeable, but it's close enough. Cutting the vinyl and the spot where the handle goes is easy enough.

if the new one is in really good contidion... you cant swap it. Just throw it away.... infact let me help by coming over and picking it up for you.

are you talking about the rear side cards? If so...I'd be interested in pictures and progress.

I changed my interior from Navy to Black by removing the rear panels and front door cards, door handles and map pockets and spraying them with black vinyl paint, along with the boot cover.

I dyed my rear seats Black using leather dye, and I swapped out my fronts for a nice pair of Black Cabrio heated sport seats that I got for cheap on craigslist.

The carpet is still a light blue color, but the floor mats cover 90% of it.

Came out nice and the vinyl paint has held up fine. No fading or chipping or peeling.

I also used the extra set of headrests and dyed those black and got some brackets and put those on the back seats.

The entire swap cost less then $300.00 for the front seats, leather dye and the vinyl paint.

That and a few hours of my time.
