I want to say z31 or Starion, but I don't think either is correct.
You are correct..it is a Starion/Conquest/Starquest whatever the heck it is. It had a built engine, haltech install, etc etc..pretty clean car
I chose BMW over Porsche because I cant afford a 911 right now
Trust me...there are quite a few older ones that I would give my left nut for...I worked on a 78 'vert today, built 3.0 or 3.2L, with Weber triple carbs...SSI headers (early style factory exhaust layout before the emissions came in and changed the exhaust layout) and Fabspeed muffler..the thing just makes absolute music....and it has RUF wheels and its painted a deep shade of green/turquoise...
Id buy that just to cruise around in!
From the photo, it goes like this (left to right)
-on the lift, that was an 89 911 Turbo (pristine condition, we tore it down to the shell, acid dipped it, put a cage in, converted it to 993 bodywork and the owner is road racing it
-Conquest
-VW Bug (turbo)
-79 911 Turbo converted to 935 look (the shop race car)
-95 rx7 hiding in the corner, under the red GT3
-Red GT3 up on the lift
-Green 964 (965 is proper chassis code if you want to get technical)
- Red 911 turbo, also Club Racer (mobil one car)
- 996 GT3 RS (blue 81 car)....also our shop car, it was owned by TRG back in 03-04, it won the 24hr of Daytona and several other races around the country before Kevin Buckler wadded it up at Watkins Glen pretty bad...we bought it and fixed it up and we Club Race it now.
-Red 930 up on the lift...another customers car that makes somewhere north of 500 to the wheels...the guy is nuts, goes out lookin for a fight and tangles with Murcil's and Vettes
And in the very front of the picture is just stock cars....
I got some other pics lying around, might put them up in the OT section...they arent BMWs so I shouldnt be posting them here

It was the tailights/hatch, I thought Starion, then Z even though I know on the Z you would have been able to see a body color strip between the 1/4 window and hatch.
Haltech, shit. That's more money in the EMS than most R3V'rs have in their entire cars.
I envy your job, for reals.

Beautiful cars, beautiful shop. Where is it? my dad is friends with a few owners of shops in the tri-state area. He has a black/black 996 GT3 right now but just sold a black/black 964 turbo 3.6 that was pushing just shy of 450

Nice E30 man, I think I spoke to you the other night. I had no idea you worked at a Porsche shop, that must be really nice. I've actually got a local friend who has quite the collection of Porsche ex-racers, including two Lowenbrau 962's, a McLaren-Porsche MP4/3, Jagermeister 934, Mark Donohue's 917/30, and many others. I can't imagine being lucky enough to work on those sorts of cars on a daily basis.
In the early 70's, I saw Mark Donohue driving his 917/30K at Riverside in the CanAm series. Absolutely unbelievably fast, especially for the era - 1200 horsepower in a basically unlimited chassis. Coming out of the turn 6 hairpin on to the short straight, you never heard a car go through the gears so quick. The 917/30's were so much faster than the competition that everybody else pretty much gave up and the class folded.
Oh, and when decelerating into the hairpin, fire came out the tailpipes like the old batmobile on TV. Every time, every lap. I'm not making this up.

Do I LOOK like I need a psychological evaluation???

I can't even imagine seeing one of those old Can-Am cars being driven at full chat. The guy who currently owns it has had it on a track just a few times, one special occasion was when he let Mark's son, David, drive the car at Rennsport Reunion III. The car is amazing though.

Great place to work man. It must be a lot of fun. I know you're probably getting burned out though. Like every job it wears thin. But what a great environment to be a part of. Its nice to see a good balance of NA to turbo motors. Everyone is so quick to turbo because its cheaper and faster. But the sheer joy of flooring it in an NA motor and being pushed into your seat is orgasmic.
Maybe one of these days you can work the E30 into the shop and do some motor work on the good ol bimmer. There's nothin like an NA built E30.

haha yea I only wish I had time to work on the E30. Ive had the new A/C compressor sitting around since I bought it..never a moment to rest.
I do a lot of sidework, Im particularly well known on the E90 forum for doing suspension installs for good prices, lot cheaper than shops...so my off times are booked solid with other work...I cant complain, some money is bettter than no money :)
To start off, I would like to get some late model/Euro bumpers and stuff, I was doing some research for the 2 weeks I was lurking here (waiting for activation lol) and it doesnt look all that hard to do, there is just so much that can mix and match together it made my head spin, and it intimidated me lol.
I would like to keep the late model valence, which I still have (albeit missing the lip spoiler), and get rid of the diving boards and replace both foglights (both are cracked, one isnt working) and throw some 3000k HIDs in them, to get that bright yellow look.
Its a look that everyone has on here, but thats one thing I hope you guys will realize about my cars as they progress...I keep my stuff simple, and understated....I was known on the Nissan 240sx/180sx/Silvia forums for having very clean cars with simple tasteful cosmetics done. Unfortunatley parts arent as cheap for the E30 as they were the Nissan :)
Then I gotta find a rear foglight switch...but they seem like a needle in a haystack around here...I did a service on an 85 323 (euro car), and he has the foglight switch, but I didnt look close enough to see if it would drop right into my 88.
I could always go for the red brick light hanging down by the muffler :pimp:
Haltech, shit. That's more money in the EMS than most R3V'rs have in their entire cars.
Thats what I was particularly hired for...I went to school for Avionics, right about the time 9/11 happened..so my chances of a job went down the drain.
So I applied it to cars. I think Im on my 10th or 11th install right now...each one gets better than the last, the engine harnesses usually get shrink wrapped or the chinese finger torture loom and all that stuff.
With all that I do..if I applied it to the E30, shed be a gem lol...but its gonna be a while before I get to poking under the hood.
