Got a new daily driver/project car...

A few weeks ago I sold my 88 325iS for $3500 and picked up a Honda CRX Si w/B16A engine (170HP) for $2600. I felt that I needed a change and was looking for a smaller car that got better gas mileage. Already having the E30 M3, I decided to get the CRX (has nothing to do with Rob). A couple of friends of mine had CRX's in the early 90's and I always liked the styling and interior. With the JDM B16A swap this thing is a true pocket rocket. The small 1.6 liter VTEC engine redlines at 9500RPM thanks to the Mugen ECU and really lives at high RPM's. It has Civic Type R cams, DC headers, Neuspeed springs/Tokico shocks, Greddy-Trust exhaust, etc and weighs around 2000lbs. Looks like shit so there are NO pics but believe me this car is fun! And go-fast parts are cheap!
"I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

Sounds great Barry. 2nd gen CRX's really are cool little compact rockets with minimal engine work/swap.

Never could imagine this car in your stable, but can relate at the same time since minus fwd its a screamer like the s14.

      Get some pix soon...

        You think that's fun?

My cousin has a fully gutted 89 CRX Si, and his motor arrives this week... b16b anyone?

Sounds fun. I sometimes check autotrader for 88-91 CRX's. They seem like fun little daily drivers.

I remember reading a article in road and track(or c and d?) about how some wider, sticky tires and some suspention mods can bring that car to over a G on a skidpad....

If you sell your M to mod the CRX like Rob did I will kill you. DMX or not.

And why is it at the bottom of your list?
                    Im now E30less.

It's not nucking futs until the direct port nitrous goes in

A decent suspension, and good 205's will do 1g.

When my cousin's car is done, we hope to achieve:

At least 13 second 1/4 mile, most likely 12's (don't wanna get our hopes up)
1G on a skidpad (at least)
Under 2000 lbs. WITH interior and sounds.

Not bad for a DD eh?

When do the standalone fuel management system, Motec system exhaust and diamondplate floorpans go in? ;)

As soon as I can convice him to get hondata, it is going in.

Exhausts are for wimps, all you need is a system louder than the exhaust :P

Floorpans? Who needs floorpans when your car is fully gutted.
