there are only 2 or 3 nice e30's where i live, the rest are just old people who don't realize what they are driving, most other bmw drivers wave at each other, just yesterday some guy in a e46 325i gave me thumbs up.

it's an e30, who cares, it's not a ferrari or 911, or even a 2002. I don't believe e30 = cult car, it's not a limited production car. it's for most a cheap car to own/drive. now if it's an e30m3 of that's different and I bet still most people won't know the difference between it and a regular old e30...
funny you mention e36m3s, when I had my r32 I was getting thumbs up and questions about it from the e36m3 drivers for some reason... lol

Well, Sacramento, San Fran, and LA is a slightly different story.
In every other part of the US, an E30 is DEFINITELY a cult car.
E30 = Arguably the best chassis that BMW ever built = cult car, because growing numbers of people are starting to realize thisJoe Funk -- Portland Oregon

We are all driving 20 year old Bimmers and love them, there's web sites, meets, E30 specific parts suppliers, a spec racing series...........sounds like a cult following to me.
We're just a small cult.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

making e36 drivers look and feel silly.Originally posted by HollandThere should be a restraining order to keep kids 100 feet from that car at all times. Plus execution on the sight to anyone who places a shopping cart within 200 feet of the thing.

its funny that i just saw this thread. one of my buddys at school it s VW guy, and he was comparing the cult following of the e30 to the mkII VW's. here in sac there are quite a few e30s, but most of them are stock, or just kids that wanted a rear wheel drive car to rice out. it really is sad to see.

That high!? Wow. I guess just know most of the e30 guys in Portland so I pretty much just wave at them. Speaking of which, what part of P-Town are you in? I'm in NW just off of 23rd.

currently, there has only been one female driver who has acknowledged any kind of car similarities, and she was a beautiful redhead with a white 325i/4 with some tasteful mods in the parking lot of a chevron.
basically if i see an e30 in ok or better condition, i try to make some kind of connection. otherwise its probably a lost cause.
but yeah, that is kind of a pet peeve of mine as well.Originally posted by Grueliusand i do not know what bugg brakes are.

One of the greatest things I have noticed about driving an older BMW is that the most wealthy and affluent people will usually give you props when they see you go buy. This is likely because they probably had one back when these were $30k entry-level German cars. It's not unusual that someone in an E60 M5 or a 997 pulls alongside and gives a modest thumbs up. It always makes me grin.- Trey
