Since he's reading this thread and posting to it, I'm sure he wouldn't mind responding and I would like to hear directly from him as to what type of gains I can expect.

I'd like to give the man some business, but I don't want to spend $229 without seeing some Dyno numbers, or at least having him post the type of numbers one should expect from his chip as his web site doesn't say how much power gains can be expected with his chip.

If he wants to sell more of his chips, maybe doing the above would help instead of having people search thru hundreds of posts on E30 forums for the numbers.

I've searched the forums and haven't seen any actual numbers, just a lot of "my car feels faster" type of posts.

Again, I'm not interested in anecdotal evidence, but real world numbers.
Do you need it posted in black and white and in plain English for you? Holy smokes.

Budget a gain of 10~15hp. I wouldn't post dyno numbers either because EVERY car is different, in a different state of tune, shape, condition etc. It may make a huge gain on a well taken care of car with all new tune up parts and a strong motor versus a weak neglected car that had the snot beat out of it.

Yes. Who knows what abuse our cars have seen? Or how clean injectors were before / after if dyno runs weren't back to back. Stock M20s sometimes have 135rwhp and sometimes 150rwhp. No matter what chip I had, my rwhp wasn't more than 145rwhp.

I will say the 93 oct MarkD was the best chip I had and I've had the Turner (JC) one and Dinan as well. For pure numbers, MarkD alone bestest peak for JC + M30 AFM.

JC murders Dinan for midrange, and MarkD had an improvement on JC even. Some people on this site have comparisons of JC and MarkD, if you search... but not likely as many dyno print outs... except for this one.

But Alex threw money at his car so he afforded back to back to back dyno runs.

If you read the mods on the bottom, last two runs are the same except for his MarkD and JC switch.

But you might not see 165rwhp without the other accompanying mods too. (And it could be a custom burn which you can't get otherwise... so let's not piss off MarkD)

No, we all do know the answer: between 10 and 15 horsepower depending on your car's state of tune. Are you really looking to know that the chip adds 12.354 bhp at 5324.232 rpm? Why? We all know he makes the best chips from the reports of the hundreds if not thousands of happy e30 owners. Plus, just knowing the numbers doesn't tell you anything about the throttle response, the midrange power increase, the shape of the two curves, or anything except peak(or largest) power increase. Numbers aren't really useful information.

There's a dyno graph posted above directly comparing the two most common chips, and no, you won't get those numbers because I seriously doubt you have those exact same mods with the exact same valve adjustment with the exact same valve and head wear and the exact same blah blah blah.

Seriously, MarkD's chip is the best out there, corroborated by everyone who has switched from Dinan to Turner to MarkD. I currently have a custom burned Dinan chip that came with the car, but will eventually go the MarkD route when I'm not a broke student based on anecdotal evidence alone.

I'll consider it but ONLY after I make an encryption board. Still, the MAF kit is expensive to make and that means expnesive to sell. As I mentioned on annother board, I'm considering a MAP sensor conversion as that would be much less costly. I estimate that it could sell for $550 for both the sensor and chip. I'd put a small box with a micro in there between the MAP and DME just so that people don't think of cloning the chips and making their own kits.

Any interest in that over here? If so, I'll start looking for an E30 for development in Toronto.

Kishg, I see you'll be at Watkins Glen during Oktoberfest. I'll be there from Tuesday to Saturday, and at the track on Wednesday. I hope to meet you there.

That would be a sweet setup, and with very little chance of being cloned.

I say go for it Mark! You have already given the E30 (and beyond) community so much...you are wonderful!

I have installed 3 of Marks chips, the first one was one of the last mods on a car. Stupid, lesson learned, it is simply amazing what the set up does to a m20. Best money ever spent. Keep it going Mark, if you build it they will come.

i was thinking, if some one puts out shitty knock offs at a lot cheaper price, the only problem should be that the guy uses Mark's name.

If someone is willing to destroy their car, let them buy crappy knock-offs.

I had a used Mark-D chip in my last eta. Not sure about gains, but put a smile on my face, lol.
