    Damn GC collar!

    After finally confirming the size of the allen tool, and getting dirty/scratched hands fucking with it, I have given up.

    I cannot get the allen bolt thing loose so that I can adjust my height. It sucks.

    Any advice? I'm hungry, I'm going to get something to eat.

    Try using a breaker bar, if not spray PB Blaster on it and let it soak in, then try again.

      I don't know if a breaker bar would fit.

      The problem is the allen wrench tool doesn't give the proper leverage, and I have a 3/16 allen bit, but it is not long enough to fit into and have any effect.

      I will probably have to find a longer bit and then use a rachet....but fuck it.

        When I adjust them I always leave the slot at an accessible spot, make sure you do that once you set them. Oh and you really don't need to torque the hell out of the thing down, fingertip strength is plenty.

            My front ones are getting tight after only a year. I just use a 10mm deep socket (and sometimes 3" extension) as a breaker bar for the allen wrench.

                Get a small wrench, stick the allen wrench through the circle part of the wrench, apply pressure to the wrench. Just watch out, you can bend your allen wrench pretty easily.

                  You really don't even need to wrench them tight. My H&R rear adjusters don't even have any set screw or anything to hold them in place, but then the threads are a little finer.

                    Disconnect the shock, take the spring & perch out and get to work with a vice.

                    So far I have never had any probs (knocking on wood) when I have had to adjust my ride height. I will be doing it again soon so let see if I have just hexed myself :roll:

                      I dont think I could get the threaded sleeve off of my trailing arms if I wanted to. Those things are on there good.

                        If it's in the rear, just take them out! Adjust and put back in.

                        If you are having trouble getting at the fronts, you have other problems.

                            I'd say torch the fucckkers. Heat does wonders. BFH and a torch will perform miracles. If it's stuck that firmly on the trailing arm, use it to your advantage for now. Get a cheap torch from Pepboys or whatever, make sure it has all the parts, get a lighter and you'll be in business.

                              I had the same problem on one of my GC collars. It bent my allens and would not come loose for anything. I used a cheater bar, sprayed PB, everything. I ended up twisting it to go up/down by carefully placing a screwdriver on it and hitting it with a hammer. It would budge a tiny bit, so i did that until I turned it to where i wanted the height to be. Good luck
