86' 325e: looking to purchase in an hour, any help

Is there anything I should know? Ask? or ? Here's what I do know about it:

    1986 BMW 325e
    • 2 door
    • white
    • manual transmission
    • white
    • houndstooth interior (good condition
    • Runs well (hes totally comfortable driving it 1 hour to pick me up and another hour back to his place, then I'll drive it home again)
    • 233,000
    • $500

Here's the last email I just got from him (I asked if he was going to kill me ) :

"I understand. No, I'm not a serial killer. I've done two tours in afghanistan so all the violence is out of my system. The exterior needs a paint job and there are dings and scratches here and there. The interior: crack in the dash, ripped seat, drivers seat will slide back and forth but won't sit all the way forward, the passengers side will sit all the way forward but won't slide. mechanically the car is sound but visual asthetics aren't there."

    Just for fun:

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

Rust situation, records, mileage, and price are all very important variables when buying an E30.

Does anyone have a link to what else is different/cooler ;) on the newer cars? This guy I know has a 1991 325i that he is parting out. The only thing that he has sold so far is the seats. So what should I buy off him? I'm thinking:

            - Bumpers
            - ???

If you're gonna get plastic bumpers you're gonna need the front valence as well from the parts car. If you're gonna run the late model fogs the connectors are different, may want to see if you can swipe the connectors too.

Its pretty simple to pull that stuff off right? Are the taillights different? I know the headlights are.
