suspension overhall in progress *edit car done*

i finally dropped my car off to get the suspension put on.

    bilstien sports
jamex springs (the ones andre used to have on his car)
    jtd rsm's

i was waiting around untill the end of the summer so that i could do it myself, but my dad decieded that he wasnt going to let me, so i have to pay a shop to do it :(

oh well, should get it back friday. many pics will follow.

What are they charging you? You have the correct struts (smaller) right?

Good thing you have a lighter early 318, because Jamex springs are apparently some of the softest springs you can buy. At least your car will finally be dropped!

i bought them used from stu so the price wouldnt reflect what you can get them for
yeah i have the smaller struts, the shocks came off hi sisters early 318.
according to andre they were pretty stiff.

i am not too worried about it, i am going into college so i dont see many track days or auto-x's in my near future :(

i just got a call from the shop and the mechanic was like "ah son did you know that these springs are alot shorter than the ones coming off?"

it doesnt matter if you dont track the car.. soft springs will cause you to bottom out more, and hit more things over bumps.

probably not a big concern for you now though... not much to worry about w/ a stock e valence 'n an m10.

i picked it up today during my lunch and did some preliminary testing. i found some cones out at the highschool and gave my car a good test. all i can say is wow. the handling is so much better, worlds better.

not sure why everone seems to think that these springs are soft, they arent. i havent bottomed out yet and i dont forsee that happening.

the bilsteins are great, i dont even want to guess how old my shocks were or if they had ever been changed.

the installer hit one snag however, he claims that the JTD rsm's didnt fit into my shock tower. i was not aware that the 318 has a smaller strut tower that the other e30's, and i dont think that i could have gotten the wrong mounts since they would be the same for all the 3 series cars. they are the stamped ones not the cnc ones btw.

the car is dumped btw 8)

So you have had driven your car for a matter of hours and have concluded that you will never bottom out?

                          Cool.

no but they are not nearly as soft as everyone seems to think

                              Pix ?
Soft springs are not like mattress soft, its hard to explain. You'll understand after going over diff. surfaces (no attempt being made to be an @$$ here..just saying) and you notice the car's behavior.
