Well, this certainly came out of left field.

Very nice, I can actually pull for williams next year.

I'm impressed, he might be a serious factor next year. But I think that Mercedes will offer a tough car next year also.

He is a thorn in BMW's side. ie he whines too much and is not dealing with well in public.

Id have to defend JPM. He was treated as second-bannana to Ralf when he was the better driver. It had to suck to lose out to Schumacher, especially when its the wrong Schumacher.

I don't think that is the case. Montoya...with all due respect, a very good driving talent...has been a bit of a thorn in the side of a few at Williams. I just don't think there's good chemistry there. He did pretty well at Hockenheim despite having a car with some mechanical grip issues. Who knows what the exact reasons are for his departure but its been no secret that he hasn't been totally happy there. So after this season he packs his bags and heads for McLaren/Mercedes. Him and Kimi will make a formidable duo.

On the other hand, Frank Williams has always spoken highly of Jenson Button....even after JB left Williams a few years back. The two seem to get along well so he's probably a better "fit" with the team. What has me a bit baffled is that BAR Honda has had a phenominal season this year. The current car(s) have proven to be both very quick and quite reliable. Also, Jenson has made more appearances on the podium this year than with any other team. He's got 61 points towards the championship. Just last year he inked a long term deal with BAR and now he plans on leaving. Wonder what the key motivator was for him to reconsider.

Chemistry with Williams BMW. He likes it there and feels more stable I would assume. He fits in weel with the team makeup.

he signed with mclaren after the 2003 french gp after a big radio fight with patrick head over pit strategy. that wasnt the only reason, but williams is in a very disorganized state and it makes sense for a driver like montoya to want to move to a more stable team who will give him the attention he's after. also, the fw26 is a piece of crap, it's not montoya's fault williams are doing bad this season. the fw27's already being developed in the new wind tunnel and rumor has it that williams is testing a new single-keel model, so there's hope for bmw.williams in 2005.
