    What are my driveshaft options?

I've searched and posted in "Driveline" without much success. I've got an '87 i manual car in need of a driveshaft. Can I use a newer driveshaft coupled with an older CSB? Any way to make an e driveshaft work? What are my options?

And anyone have one for sale with good U-joints? My car has been down for a week and a half now while I'm trying to find some answers and a driveshaft.
    Thanks.

Buy a reman'd unit from these guys and avoid the hassle of using newer parts and older parts.

Junkyard trip! A new guibo and csb are going to run you almost $75.

Help me out with some answers people. Junk yard trips and rebuilt shafts are not my options right now. I need to buy a used one. Thanks.

Why buy used, when you can just as easily buy a remanufactured unit for just a little bit more?

I would call up Driveline and at least get a quote.

Or look at Thrash (Driveshaft Specialists). $338 for a completely rebuilt, factory style driveshaft. I got one from these guys for my old E32 and the quality and service was good. If you don't want to do this job again in a year, get a properly rebuilt unit.

I paid $475 shipped for mine from Driveline of Portland, although I'll get $75 back once I send them mine.

And it comes with a 5 yr/50,000 mile warranty and they will pay the labor to replace it if it fails.

                Can't beat that.

Can't beat having friends with wholesale accounts. I think I paid 250 for a remanufactured driveshaft from a shop that does them locally. Apparently my u-joints were so fucked that I wasn't eligible for the core charge credit haha.

How long ago did you do this? What was the turn-around time on your order? Seems like a decent price considering the warranty.

I think I ordered back in late May.

They had it to me in 3-4 days IIRC, its just been sitting in the spare bedroom for a couple months now. Just going to wait and do the diff/driveshaft/tranny all at once, just gotta find a good tranny now.

I did mine just last week in an 88' I just bought. Since I live in Eugene it was on my doorstep the next day. If you do order one, remind them to make sure the studs that bolt to the differential are included.
what you did to this car is like getting a supermodel naked and willing to do anything you please. now here you are faced with ths once in a lifetime opportunity and then you squander it by making her fuck you in the butt with a 24" strap on. you are a sad, silly little boy.

I have purchased two rebuilt driveshafts from these guys this year-one for my E30 M3, the other for my '87 325 eta. After a couple of weeks, one of the welds where they rebuilt the eta driveshaft broke during a 1st-2nd redline gearshift that honestly wasn't that hard at all. Because of the way it broke and the AWFUL sound it made, it wasn't readily apparent what was going on and I wound up pulling my transmission twice, replacing the flywheel, and having the car on jackstands for three weeks until we finally saw what had actually happenend. To their credit, they overnighted out a replacement immediately but the replacement driveshaft isn't as well balanced as the first one that broke.

The driveshaft on the E30 M3 is good, but even though it cured almost all of my driveline vibration there is still a tiny amount present in 2nd gear acceleration.

Note that this place and a few others get their rebuilt driveshafts from the same supplier, so even though you may order from someone else it will still be the same product.

^THanks for reminding me, should have pointed out the ones from Drivelines of Portland come with a new CSB as well.
