dude whatever. to the people that are saying wait and shop around are morons. you cant touch a running m3 for that cheap anymore unless the seller is completely oblivious. if you can swing it, do it. theres no way its made it to 253k with no maintenance. by chance is the guy selling it russian? alex i think his name is? if so this was FS awhile back and it doesnt have a clean title.

dude go to him with 5K cash and show it to him, tell him and show proof that the s14 needs a rebuild at around 100k or so and that it will cost more than the car, also show him NADA and KBB papers and im sure you can talk him down. where there is a will, there is a way.
and for $, i told you, sell all your stuff. everything you own that you dont NEED sell it to make $ for the car

well lemme tell ya this. i dunno if youve seen my project thread for my car. BUT. i paid $4k for mine non running with a trunk full of motor parts AND rust. sooo, if its running and you can get it for say $6k you are WAY ahead. i just spend $1600 for parts to put my motor back together. so quick math would say im $5600 into mine and it still has holes in it AND it doesnt run.....yet.

how would i show proof that the s14 needs a rebuild around 100k? he seems like a very reasonable guy. very nice and down to earth. he even said he doesnt know the value of these cars..so he called and asked around and they said around 8k..and has seen them go for 12k-20k. which, i know is true..for the perfect M3 though.
i have a bunch of old school nintendo games and game consuls lol. so yeah, i think i am going to place a feeler on CL to see what i can get for it. what do you think i can get for it? its a 1986 325es 5sp coupe. short shifter..nearly brand new tires with 17' rims. swapped a motor from a '90 325i..then stroked it :D its very quick. everything under the hood is brand new (clutch, fluids, odds and ends)..around 4k miles on it. the engine has 34k now..i bought it when it had 30k in april. um, clean title. yeeah things like that. i have pictures in the general forum titled "new to r3v" and it has pictures with an album full of my e30.M Coupe

It is rare that a street driven s14 needs a rebuild at anywhere close to 100k. There are MANY 200k+ cars out there on the original motor...you'd have a hard time finding "proof" that the s14 only lasts 100k...hell, 100k is considered low mileage nowadays. Plenty of people autocross 160k+ M3's all day long.
Also, selling all your stuff to fund a 253k M3 on a high school pizza budget isn't exactly sound advice...I couldn't suggest this.
To the OP, anyone in this thread can call naysaying people like me a moron or whatever else. It doesn't matter. It's going to take a little money to maintain(which if you're selling your nintendo(lo-motherfucking-l) to fund an E30 M3, you don't have) at that mileage and if rebuild time comes around, it's going to take a lot.
Like I said, believe it or not, there are better out there. If you're going to pull the trigger on a low dollar E30 M3 with limited amounts of extra coin, take one shot and and really make it count...sigpic

Also, these cars are worth a load more than 8k. People are selling SHELLS sans drivetrain for 4k+. That car, in all honestly, is probably legit worth 10k+ if the title is clear. A really nice example car will fetch 20k easily now. a PRESTINE example is 35k+. If you can score than car for under 8, that's a hell of a deal.PNW Crew
