Allright, we got the hole patched up at a shop by these two old, awesome hot rodders. They cleaned it up, ground out the cracks (there were two), and sealed it with JB weld and two coats of gasket sealant. Hopefully it will hold, we will be checking it every few miles.

The oil light isn't going out... does it take some time?

Thanks for your help/support, guys. I'll still want to trow a new pan on in CA, so if you have one, I want it.

The ball in the sending unit is now stuck in the down position. You can try pulling it out and shooting with carb cleaner to unstick the ball, or spend $115 on a new sending unit.

This is the same advice that our site admin gave me.

I haven't done either, and just make sure to check the oil every time I get gas, which we should all do anyway.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck man. Glad you got it going again. I have been busy all day and haven't been near a computer, or I would have offered what meager assistance I could have provided.

OK, well, the oil light went out. I'm really tired, even though today was our shortest day in terms of driving, so I'll keep the bla bla short.

            Picture book time!

So, this morning, we woke up to this:

Which, upon closer inspection, was revealed to be this:

Which, after being attacked with a die grinder by a toothless sand dragster mechanic in a little railroad town in Arizona, looked like this:

The aforementioned mechanic (after copious amounts of carb cleaner) then applied a layer of quick-set JB weld, followed by two layers of Right Stuff liquid gasket sealant. Live and learn, dudes.

These guys bailed me out pretty good. If you're ever car-fucked in Arizona, look up Arizona Auto Service on Hopi Blvd.

Anyway, the front lip came off somewhere during this time, and now *both* side mounts are broken off. We see now that without the sexlip, mein auto looks like a crusty eta with ricey wheels, which indeed it is.

The lip will be back on soon. (after a wash and some super-gluing)

Anyway, we headed out of Holbrook, periodically checking the oil pan. The oil light eventually went out, and there was only minor seepage from the pan. We headed West to Flagstaff, and north to the Grand Canyon, which

            was

            absolutely

            friggen

            incredible

            (especially during the sunset)

Also there was a cool tree

Then, we packed in, and headed to Kingman, AZ, where we are now. We decided to skip Vegas, and to instead re-bust my oil pan somewhere in LA, which would be much more convenient. So, we're heading strrraight into LA tomorrow.

Never been to the Canyon, but after seeing those pics, I would really love to go.

Glad to hear the car is doing well.

We made it! We actually got to our end destination at like 2 PM, but I've been moving college shit out of storage for the last 7 hours, and haven't gotten a chance to post. Thanks for following along, I hope this inspired a few of you to plan your own road trips :P
