      Congratulations guys.

Damn, they have a new write-up now?...egh...it's "ok".

I did mine almost 3 years ago when I did my interior. I also took the chance to have my overhead panel recovered in leather at the same time. It looks so good.

Question since you guys haev done it...

Does your relay stop the sunroof in all the correct spots? Mine is a little off which has been pissing me off for years but not a huge deal.

The "close" stop is right in the middle when the sunroof is closing, and thel tilt "full open" is a couple inches after that. Then i have to close the rest and let go before it goes straight into tilt mode. Ghetto, but I think all I have to do is have the sunroof closed and unplug the relay and then plug it back in. What do you think?

EDIT: i read the write-up to find the closed position, which would mean I'd have to remove the motor. Is there any other way to do this?

hehe, you just didnt have your motor in the closed position while you were installing it with the sunroof in the closed position, it's just a matter of unbolting the motor and closing it (putting it in the closed position), make sure your sunroof is closed, then put the motor back, it should work. What did you have recovered in leather? the whole headliner or just the part around the sunroof? sounds interesting....

Yea I read the write-up portion of the closed position. I guess that's the only way. What a pain in the ass.

Just the overhead PANEL that houses the check control, visors, and covers the sunroof stuff was covered in leather. I dyed my headliner black too.

          EDIT: stupid me.

yea, just do it on a rainy day in your garage, it's not hard, just tedious. If you can, take some pics of the leather, Im really curious!

Here's a crappy picture of the overhead panel. You can see the leather if you look.

                  Tedious doesn't even cover it.

This was the most frustrating and annoying mod I've done to my car so far. Worth it? I suppose, but doing it all over again I'd have done things the right way the first time.

Dan, did you use the power sunroof mounting bracket (the black piece) or the original manual one? I couldn't figure out how to get either off, so I just "modified" (see: cut the shit out of) the manual one. Finally got the motor to sit right, but it sits too low-the filler panel that goes in front of it won't fit right, and the switch is sticking halfway out. Any idea how to fix this? I wanted to use the power bracket, but can't figure out how to swap them.

HAHAHA!!! dude, they're riveted in, you just grind out the rivet that goes from the copper plate to the black plate, then you cut the copper plate to accomodate the motot, then you rivet the copper plate to the motor's black plate, then attach the motor using the 2 outside screws, then use a self tapping screw on the middle hole.

Got the part about mounting the motor...that's done. Just didn't know if cutting out the rivet was the only way to get it off. I don't like cutting rivets. I don't like putting in rivets. But, if I want my switch to fit IN the roof, I suppose I have to look into it. Pain in the ass, I tell you.

Oh fat tony...... (if you guys don't get it, then nevermind)

Guys....seriously. All you have to do is use a drill and drill the old rivets out. It's so easy!! Just use a bit that's exactly the same size as the rivet. Then, i actually got the mounting plate that was meant for the motor (something you guys should have picked up). I simply put the new mounting plate where the old one was and used the same spots that used to be riveted to put a screw and self locking nut through... Easiest and perfectly clean. You cant even tell it didnt come that way if you had my overhead panel off and exposed the worm gear and motors and such...

Yea i know, i'll do it. Hell, i'm excited to have a sunroof that stops in the right places. Getting it out is going to be a pain in the ass though, that suckers bolted in there tight.
