    Quick tranny question

    E30 M3 tranny = Getrag 265?

Will it bolt up to an M20? Or would I need an M3 throwout bearing and clutch?

Without a doubt you should be getting a racing tranny.

          Ok, haha.

But seriously, does anyone know the answer to this?

            no, AFAIK, the 265 is a big-bellhousing tranny (think M10, S38, M30).

So is the E30 M3 tranny just a 260 then?

Although if the 265 is the M30 tranny, I may snag it anyway......

no, what I meant was the S14 is basically a similar block to the M10, M30, and S38 and that the tranny bellhousing isn't compatbile with the M20/M50/M42.

                there's also a large bellhousing 260 for the M30.

why do you want the 265 though?

Not necessarily that I wanted one, but I know someone who has one for sale locally who has assured me its in good condition. So I just wanted to see if it would fit an M20 as my tranny's input bearing is whining like crazy and the synchros are starting to go.

                    Thanks for the info!
