They make two small deposits into your account ( around a dime). And then you enter how much they deposited... at least that's how I did it.

You are talking about two different things. First, you can get "verified" by providing PayPal with bank account information. Second, you can get a "confirmed" shipping address by giving them the address to which your credit card is billed. Otherwise, your address will be listed as "unconfirmed".

When you confirm an address they mail you a letter with a code in it. Once recieved you go to their website and enter that code, then your address is confirmed.

Interesting, but my address was confirmed through my credit card billing address. No mystery codes for me. If you actually go the PayPal website and attempt to confirm an address they will ask you for your credit card information.

Same here. No mystery codes - just confirmed through my CC address.

Here's the following from PayPal.com to confirm an address for my account. This is from their site today.

                          "Confirm Location by Mail

We mailed a letter with your Location Confirmation code to the following address. After you receive the letter, please enter the 6-digit code below"

The difference is whether you are adding a bank account or a credit card. For a bank account you have to confirm the address through this method.

I don't know what to tell you. It seems we have two different approaches here. Regardless, I think we have sufficiently answered the guy's question. Just for the record, I have cut and paste what comes up for me when I attempt to confirm an address (and NOT for verification - to make sure that is clear). I have used both a bank account and a credit card and have always had the following come up:

                            What is a Confirmed Address?
A buyer's Confirmed Address is checked against the credit card billing address maintained by his or her credit card company.

                            ---------------------------------

                            Confirm Address Secure Transaction

A Confirmed Address is the mailing address where you receive your monthly credit card statement.

If your receive your bill at the address displayed below, please confirm it by entering the card information in the fields provided on this page. The information you enter is used only to confirm your address and no charges are made to your card.

Both of those reference credit cards. I have 2 credit cards attached to my account that had no problems, when I added a second bank account last week that is what they sent me.

Anyway, like you said, I htink he should have the idea now
