If you disconnected the air bag and then turned the power on the SRS system set a FC and now when you pluged it back in the SRS light comes on. I don't know if what you tried worked or not but you might also try a battery reset, remove the "+" and "-" cables on the battery then touch them together, to discharge any capacitors. Then hook the cables back on the battery. Worth a shot or see if a local shop will reset it for you.

If you connected the "+" to the "-" after you disconnect the wires from the battery you won't fry anything BC theres no power sorce. This will reset everything.

Dan is correct on this one. Once the light has been triggered it stays triggered. You have to take it to the dealer where they are required by law to check the whole system before resetting the light.

I took my old car to an independent shop and explained to him what I had done. He told me to turn around for a second and used a high dollar reset tool on it and then said, there, you didn't see a thing, right?? I flipped him a $20 and called it a day.

or here is the better option, remove that goddamn bomb and get an MtechII wheel, airbags in e30's are stupid and dangerous

my cousin works for an auto recycler and sometimes they take old airbags and place them face down on the ground and set them off and they fly like 40 feet up in the air. I don't want that going off in my face, I'll take my chances sans-a-bag.

And get chemicals all over your interior. That wouldn't be fun... unless you take the wheel off and somehow blow it there.

I wish I didn't have one so I could rock an E36 M3 steering rack.

I still can't use it even if I do remove the airbag, right?
                Reminiscing...

How do you set it off when it's out of the car with no power? If nobody buys mine, I may just do this for the hell of it :)
