you going to buy an outhouse somewhere with that cool 14000
14K buys a nice lot to build on about 3 blocks from the beach in florida panhandle.
14k makes the down payment on 467k home.
      anyother questions?

$14k for a lot in Florida near the beach? Are you sure?

A $14k down payment on $467k loan would be 3013.82 a month. No DP would be 3106.96 per month.

I am investing now fellas...hardcore. A much better way to spend cash...although I do enjoy my E30.

I'd say you could get a house for $10k, like a beat up duplex, then invest $3000 into cleaning it up/wallpaper/carpet..... and then sell it for a profit.

          Then repeat.

There is a thing called capital gains. You must own/live in that place for 2 years or all of that "profit" will go away in taxes.

I have UNDER $21k into my car...
not bad considering everything I have done... but if you added it up and tried to duplicate it, it would never happen. I spent $2,300. for a 2.5L rebuild, and thats just unheard of...

Luke, for what your car is, that is a low price. Its done and over with, be happy you have one of the sickest E30's out there, and just spend a bit wiser from now on out.

I shudder to think of all the expenses I have on my car this summer. I refuse to add them up to know how much I actually spent on all the stuff I did.

I've been trying to find all of my receipts for modifications lately for insurance purposes, and I don't know exactly what I've spent, but I know it's somewhere between $12k - $15k in repairs and modifications since I bought the car......And it's still a 260,000 mile eta that needs a paint job. :(

Considering that price will NOT get you any of the performance based new cars out there, I wouldn't really be complaining. But it is a very interesting thread. For any of the guys that have spent somewhat close to that number on their cars..............would you do it again?? And would you do it to another E30??

Agreed, for the money, the resulting car isn't a bad deal at all. And considering the evolutions that Erick's car has gone thru, had he gone straight to its current setup, he would've no doubt saved money.

Everyone is shouting "invest, invest", but honestly, we all need a car one way or another, and $14k isn't that big of an amount for what is an awesome car. Erick already has money in investments, and you can't invest 100% of your money. Gotta spend some of it and enjoy it on things like a car. Otherwise, what's the freaking point of having money? Money doesn't buy happiness, but it does buy things that make me happy :).

I think you'd be hardpressed to find a lot in any *growing* area of FL for $14k. My parents have done a lot of research on home and lot prices in FL, and my dad's company does a lot of development work in the Boca Raton area.

You can't even find a lot in a decent suburb of Chicago for that price.

I think that Lukas and others, as well as myself, have a passion for the e30. I loved my car in original form. The fact that a stock automobile could evoke love is a great accomplishment of the enginers and design teams that put these cars together many years ago.

I want to spend more on my car. I have about 6k in it, the engine is done for now and the exterior is next on my list.

For a new RWD sports car 14k would be a steal and you never talk a factory into making it exactly how you want it. I figure "building" my car up is a better idea than financing a newer car.
