best i get in my 86 eta is 29mpg average if i drive conservatively, if i run harder it drops to around 27, my driving is about 50/50 highway 70 - 80mph and local roads about 40mph not too many traffic lights or much traffic and there are a few hills on my normal daily drive so i get better mpg going to work then i get coming home.

went for a drive today, 32 mpg highway. Wasn't paying attention to city/stop and go. But I just did a complete tune up including flushing everything. Motor, radiator, trans, and diff. It runs a lot better then when I bought yesterday.

Well, shouldnt be that bad. But the best thermostat is 88* iirc. I work on a lot of different BMW's, so I could be mistaken..

The lower temp thermostat, as I stated earlier, will cause the car to run a bit more rich. Where is St. Paul exactly? Florida? Hotter climates need a lower temp t-stat to keep from getting hot at idle. My 323i came from Texas and even with the thermostat functioning (not stuck) it never got above 1/4 on the guage. Not sure what temp it was.

Yeah the gauge stays pretty low all the time, but with winter around the corner I'm thinking about getting a little higher temp one...

It doesn't really matter anymore though, my engine started on fire today and it's going to take a shit ton of work to get it back on the road :(

The eta motor is fantastic. Its a shame the conceot was not developed further. I still don't understand why it was not ore popular.

The best road engine I have ever come across. On the track however it is one of the worst.

I miss my super ETA a lot, sometimes i wish I could find another one over the i.
They just felt so much smoother and actually faster as far as low end.
