In a perfect world I would buy the italian only spoiler with the integrated brake light. I know a couple of aftermarkets have them but I have not personally seen anything that does not look ricey

I agree. There is also a thread on here about what to do with the 3rd brake light wiring (to shut off the "brake light") on the check panel, after it is removed. A quick search will bring it up. Good luck with this mod - lets see pic's when it's done.

I have one being painted with an e28 mtech wing, but the body shop is taking their sweet time. Of course the car has no motor now so it's not really worth complaining about.

It is really quite easy - buy a matching color coupe/4 door trunk lid, 4 bolts for off/on adjust & your done. Probably get the part for under $100 & install is @ 35 min.

Please note, this is illegal in some states because your removing the 3rd brake light. If you get tickets & attract cops like a magnet - or play "dare you" with the local police, they WILL find a way to write you up for this - so don't do it!!

warning heeded, I plan actually having a third brake light...just not the bulge :)

I'm changing mine out today. If I get stopped, I'll tell them it's an '85 vert. They probably will not know the difference unless they run the VIN.

I've seen a pic around of an e30 with a wing from a mid-90s Escort hatchback that has an integrated 3rd light. It's just the right width for an e30 and has an m-tech-ish look. I found one of the spoilers at the pick-n-pull, but I can't find the picture again.
