    Anyone else a competitive swimmer?

Phelps begins his quest for 8 olympic golds at 12 et today on NBC when he competes in the 400 meter IM final.

Anyone else here swim competively? I swim up at SLU and was wondering if anyone else shares the same second hobby

I met a guy last summer in Montreat, NC during a church trip who knows TJ. We were in the same group. He swims/swam and he said he and TJ competed together. I forgot his name though.

But me on the other hand, I just swim in my pool. Nothing competitive.

it definately gets old, but i like the competition.

Plus swimming is one of the best ways to keep the beer gut off for a few more years

If anyone out there does / did swim what your events and times. Im a sprint freestyler mostly, with my times being 21.6, 49.5, and 1.50.3 in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyles respectively.

damn nice times, youd be top three in every event in my conference minus the 200. Youd need to go sub 144 to get into the top 5

im hoping this year I can bust out a 145 in the 200. My turnover is too slow to expect much more in the 50. 48 low would be nice in the 100

Yeah, I don't know how I did a 1:45, I even split it. I was a distance swimmer, never did anything under a 500. The mile was one of my best events.

nice man, when I went my 150 I think I went out in a 50. and came back 1.00. I only swam it once last year at states cause our third seed had agroin injury. Maybe this year I can do a little better if I actually swim it a couple times

Funny thing is my 50 fly was as fast as my 50 free (23.0). I went high 52's on both splits of that 200. I was lead off on our 800 free relay at nationals so I wanted to go fast :) My high school team was 2 time consecutive state champs... the second year we won with only 5 guys, and the runner up team had 16.

                        damn impressive man

our 200 free relay team this year was the first team to miss the cut for Division 3 nationals by only .02 seconds. Talk about a heartbreaker.
