I wonder if a steal pan off of a e28 M20 would work in the e30?

In the new Total bmw they talk about swapping the aluminum pan on to the e28 block.They said you need longer bolts & that its thiner than the aluminum one.But I think it would bend
rather than crack at least a little.

Edit.....steel pan would possibly need shorter bolts.

They looked identical on the bottom in the pics.Maybe someone has one of each to compare.
