They All Should BeDestroyed! (deer that is) PICS!

well do i have a story for you.

Out in the interior this weekend for a camping trip with my friends, driving the twisties in the e30. nice days, pretty women, and hot weather. So we are heading up the canyon to a well known fishing river from our cabin. we get to the river, and it is extremly low, so there were very few if any fish at all in the river so we left. as i'm doing some spirted driving back up the hill. constantly checking for deers up and down the sides. we saw none. i enter a straighaway that banks left at the top, lowering my speed before the corner, all the sundden, a deer runs out. "OH SHIT" i yell slam the brakes on turn hard to the left and the abs kicks in, half a foot more and i would have missed the deer completly. but i didn't i urgently exit my car and check the damage. her rear hind hit my grille, euro lamps, hood, fog, turns, rear part of the fender and the door. we were going to finish the deer off but ti cried for a few moments, then got up and hop the fence and ran away! i'm pretty sure she'll die from internal bleeding. all my the passengers are ok and uninjured. i'm pretty mad at the moment, the car drove home fine, just the lights a little messed up hard to drive at night when you have one light basicly pointing to the sky. you'll be able to see what i'm saying tomorrow, i'll have pictures.

insurance should help me out wiht this one.
btw i was luck to report this to the police right away as i saw people in front of head keep going and they were hit by a drunk driver :? to each there own i guess. kinda freaky.

the moral of the story, watch for deer. they can screw you and your car up big time.

    ps.

it was a waffleswaffleswaffles (female deer) that hit me, they alwasy seem to run into the road, yet you never see any bucks (male deer) on the road....i wonder why???? ;)

I've only been in a car that hit a deer once. My brother is a cop, so he speeds all over. Were were on a twisty mountain road, 30 mp speed limit, he was doing around 70 (40-45 is safe). He nailed a deer, and completely obliterated the right front of the cruiser. We found the front half of the deer, with some of the spine sticking out.... the rest was vaporized. They found *parts* of the rear end of the deer up to 60 ft away.

You could look at it as a blessing in disguise, maybe that drunk driver ahead would have hit you. Some guy hit a dear on the interstate by my Mom's house last year and actually died.

The only animals I've ever hit have been cats. Stupid overbred animals. I hit a huge one on the interstate once, ran out in front of me in the dark and I destroyed it at 85 mph. Pieces of my new BMP bumper and cat flew over the windshield.

that sucks the car has so much damage, but just be happy what happened to me didnt happen to you. it sounds like i reacted about the same as you when the animal ran out infront of me. but thanks to gravel (and i was going a bit faster it sounds) i ended up off the road.

find the dear, skin it and make a coat, or re-apohlster your seats with it, create a lasting momento you children will cherish. Peaches

how weird. i almost hit one about 200 yards from my house lastnight. i thought it was a big stupid dog in the street until it was right up close. its amazing how much damage even small animals do to a car. even worse is having shit like that screw up the rest of the front end. good luck with the repairs and insurance company.
I retired my E30 for now...

that's not too bad.. my friend hit a deer on the freeway, it was quite a bit worse than that. the headlight bucket area was completely trashed, I had to use a hammer on the hood to get it open . you should be able to replace the hood, fender, grille, and lights on that side and be fine. his car needs a new light bucket mounting area cut and welded into place, plus a bunch of other stuff (fog light, valance, etc).

At least it was not a moose. Assuming you have those in your part of Canada.

No Doubt, that would make a nice little dent. I almost hit one back in 1993 while I was visting Alaska.
