Cabrio with plastic bumpers and manual top?

Did plastic bumpers and manual top ever overlap, maybe in 1991?

In 92 the cabbys came with plastic bumpers but I'm not sure about the convertible top mechanism.

Well the 318s did. Cant remember if it was an option or standard on the 325s though.

I've got an '89 325ic... plastic bumpers + manual top

I think that is how it is for '89s and '90s ?

No. Someone swapped your bumpers. '89-'91 verts got metal bumpers, iirc. I don't know about the roof mechanism, though.

Nope, either your previous owner swapped them out of the finaggled the dealer to slap some plastic bumpers on the car before they sold it to the first owner. They were available but they never came from the motherland with plastic bumpers. Especially in 89. They were all metal unless the option was available.

Actually, after '91 the vert got plastic bumpers and the larger tails in the U.S.

I have one for sale. 92 318i and it has a manual top. So to answer the question yes. Not sure what year both plastic and manual started tho.

                      Okay, once and for all,

-verts built before '91 had small tails and metal bumpers
-verts built after '91 got big tails, plastic bumpers, and an airbag
-most verts after '91 have power tops, excluding the 318ic
-to the best of my knowledge, there was always an option for a power top; it wasn't standard. At least 2 of the later verts (325ic) that I have ridden in have had manual tops.

yeah late 318ic's have what you're looking for.

I have an 89 325ic and a 92 318ic and I gotta say I love this lil 318. Much lighter and more tossable feeling, vinyl interior has held up great, not much slower and gas mileage is probably 5mpg better.

                        I wuvs it!

I don't think the power top was even available on the 318iC, much like an automatic transmission.

Late 91 were plastic though. 91-93 were all had electric tops with plastic bumpers.

Agree with all of this but to clarify further, the cutoff point was 10/90 so there were early 1991 model year cabrios without the facelift. I know there is at least one owner on this forum.
