    Quattro Rallye

Went to the Euro show in Austin TX yesterday. Lots of nice cars. Some rich fella brought out his R8. There was supposed to be an '82 M1 there, but the owner must have pussed out. Anyway, some lucky bastard owns this thing...

Fully street legal! it was freeking awesome. Looked like they washed it after a race, rolled it up on the trailer, and towed it to the vault. I regret not taking more pictures of it. Just thought I'd share these.

The M1 only ran from 1978 to 1981 for what it's worth.

Blasphemy my ass. If you had the chance to get a Sport Quattro, not the regular UR Quattro, like that rally car pictured, but a REAL Sport Quattro over an E30 M3, and you didn't take it, I'd beat you to death with your own cock on general principle.

You can always find another E30 M3. A Sport Quattro is rarer than a unicorn being ridden by the pope stripped nude and covered in peanut butter.

Funny visual, but a tad disturbing too Josh :-P

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that red example a Group B homologation? Its rear quarter windows are shorter than the standard Ur-Quattro hatch. I read somewhere this was done to shorten the wheelbase specifically for rally racing in that specification (Group B).

I've heard those quattros, if you can find one, are a nightmare to maintain. But one of my favorite Audis nonetheless.

Yup, that's what I understood as well. Audi actually campaigned the long-wheelbase Quattro (known as the A1/A2) for a couple of years, and then when companies like Lancia, Peugeot, and Renault began to compete, Audi realized that a shorter wheelbase car was the answer to their problems.

The Quattro A1 and A2's main issue was the amount of weight in front of the front axle, which hindered maneuverability. So, Audi shortened the Quattro by 320mm and created the Sport Quattro (street car) and the Quattro S1 (Group B race car.)

oldschool audis have a place in my heart as well. It would be a tough choice between an e30 M3 sportevo and an audi sport quattro. They are both pretty rare, both excellent racing heritage, both veyr sweet looking.

                            I too would be torn

A guy I used to work with had am old Audi (I don't know all the chassis codes), maybe a 90 or 100? Non-turbo, non-quattro, five cylinder FWD. That car still rocked, I still want it.

The M1 I was waiting for is white, some guy in SA owns it. The red one was at the classic car show at Rudy's.
