    flame suit on

so i know what i'm about to say may piss people off but really i was just wondering today if anyone has seen or heard of a OBD1or2 VW VR6 engine being swapped into the E30 chassis, the reason why i was asking is i currently drive a MK3 jetta Vr6 the body is fecked but the motor is stout i was thinking about finding a E30 shell, pulling the VR building it for turbo and putting it into the E30.

i think its a doable swap. i was thinking of this earlier . i would rig a chain drive system to drive the back wheels. maybe on the outside of the car. that would look so hardcore

Make sure you take the shitty VW wiring along with the engine, it will compliment the chain drive.

Who the fuck cares what we say though. Do it and make a thread about it.

034efi makes a tranny adapter plate for the VR6 so you can use an Audi longitudinal style transmission, it would just be a matter of locking out the front half shafts and making a driveline and some motor mounts at that point.

The VR is actually a pretty good motor, take a look around the 034 site ( you should be able to google it up pretty easy ) they have a turboed VR swapped into the front of an A4 audi that's pretty wicked.

Why not go for another VW. MK1 Rabbit anyone?
Hemingway said it best. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely games.”

VR swaps into MK1s make R3ving your VW and almost guaranteed weekly event, even at stock ride height.

do you have a link for the 034 site? i love the VR i havent been able to kill the thing the only bad thing is the timing chain on the "back" of the engine, aprt from that i think there pretty stout i've seen some sickenly fast turbo VR6's i just wish VW would have put it into a RWD platform.

rabbits are cool but i like the MK2's better, but i want to have a RWD car again, i was hoping to snatch up a new 135i butsince the economy has takin a crap and will continue to do so and the fact i get paid by what i do as a tech and not by the hour i have to make my own badass RWD the best way i know how.

the point being is i already have the engine, wiring and ecm on hand so i wouldn't have to look or pay for anything engine wise, and i personally think it would be cool, i was just thinking baout it, it's not like i'm taking a 3cyl geo engine and putting it into a 530i, i just really don't want to have to give or part out my VR i would rather keep it, i guess it's just down to personal taste and wants,
