    labor for swap?

Allright ladies, I have a guy I know askin me about a buddy and me doing a swap for him... He wants either the 740il v12 engine or a rb26 swapped into his 85 eta... I have connections for not engines, and my buddy and me can do this swap quick with the supplies given...

Here is the catch, the kid with the car doesn't know anyone who can do the swap around town, but my buddy and I. I was thinking about 2k do labor alone. Does this sound right? Or is somone getting screwed?

There's a lot of custom fab for both of those swaps. $2K would be super cheap considering the amount of work each swap entails.

not necessarily, ..it comes down to your experience.
Calculate how many hours you expect this will take then decide how much you want to make total, or by the day.

If your good making a grand in 2 days, maybe three - then good. Otherwise raise price accordingly.

Just remember - your a buddy.. don't ever rip off a friend :)

*edit - I agree though, it is a lot of work to swap a 740il v12 into an eta. I only know about m20s in e30s..

That is what I would have said if I was to delve deep into a statement.

Custom fab work of the level you will need to complete is worth upwards of $55-95/hr. In twenty hours ( the labor hours required to pull and dissassemble, then reassemble and reinstall a stock engine ) you will have exhausted your budget.

                wait, v12's were in 740's? I thought they were in 750's. ;)

Do you really know what you are doing? If not, walk away now. Dont pretend when its someone elses car jackass.

Consider that both engines are huge. You will need to figure out a place to put the radiator, which will require a lot of custom hose or duct work.

Check out this v12 swap and this rb26 swap for an idea of how much fab work you need.

2k is a really incredible deal for him, if you do a good job.

I think it'll be the most difficult $2000 you've ever earned, including the $10/handjob scheme you rustled up...

                        2 rb engines in 240's
                        Over 8 sr swaps
A supra engine in a cressIda
A 2.7i swap in and out

Currently I am working with another friend with putting a s50 and all goodies in his e30

So its not a matter of lack of experience, although I never did a v12 swap, I kind of don't want to... To me its pointless, but every thing has a price. A rb would be from previous experience, and fab work won't be a issue. I'm not talking of starting a business, just trying to help a buddy out. Currently I'm unemployed, I need money so badits unreal, and I will not screw him over either...
So let's rephrase the original question: for two people to completly swap in a rb26 engine and all necessary parts to get the car on the road in a driveable fashion, what do you think would be a good price for labor alone? Not including engine work (if any), parts running and such other issues.

Plus, I'm not a jackass, I know my limits compared to other dipshits around.

If I were you, I'd stick with what you know, and drop in an RB for $2500, labor only. Don't sell yourself short.

                            +1
Sounds like you know that motor, so itd be easier, whereas the v12 seems like you've never messed with.
