hey, one good thing about british engineering is they perfected cars where there are no oil changes necessary

they leak so bad the oil never gets dirty. seriously.

Buy a late 80's RX7 with a blown motor and shoehorn V8 into it
Not that I care, of course.

A sub 500 dollar '02 in Massachutsetts is going to resemble the flintstonemobile.

                my thoughts exactly

a 500$ e30 will most likely be in MUCH better shape than a 500$ '02

If you can find a $500 MGB (or any MG for that matter) for $500 or less, run away, it's not worth your time. Average price for a driveable MGB is in the $4000 range. Yes they can be had for cheaper, but usually there will be problems with them like rust, electrical issues, etc...

Seriously, there aren't very many cars out there that are only $500 and worth owning. Have you thought about maybe getting a motorcycle or something else as a project that could be had for a lot cheaper?

If you are bored, I would join good gym and start working on your own body, best project for under $500

Great advice! Working on your body would be the best investment in the long run. It would help low cholesterol levels as far as low blood pressure, and maybe even more babes.

for 500 I suggest build a fixie bike. Those are nice and you could work out at the same time. A nice project to do from scratch. And then you could use it to go to class.
