Well, finally after nearly 4 months of waiting, I finally removed my engine and took off the head. It revealed a lot as to what caused the catastrophic failure. It seems as though the cam (a 280/280 11mm lift from IE), caused the valves to physically contact the pistons a little, resulting in an intake valve failure on #5. Basically, I should have checked the clearance before driving the car, but was rushed, and thought the noise I heard (however slight it was), was normal for a medium duration higher lift cam. The valve broke, smashed the head, and what you see is what you get. On to an M50. Thanks Ted for the help, it's nice to have a second hand (he's the one in the pics).
For now I think I'll run the m50 non-turbo, and see what happens from there ;)
See you guys around!
