Remove center roundel or horn, put key in ignition, use 22mm socket. Without the key it locks in place.
Other stuff:
-The headlight knob controls the dash light brightness by twisting it left or right
-The 'memo' button is really just an alarm that beeps on the hour
After almost 8 years of E30 ownership...

Most imports have folding mirrors. When they are transported via roro car carrier ship, they are parked about 6 inches away from each other and tied down to the deck with racheting straps. These ships are like floating parking garages with as many as 15 decks. They want to pack in as many cars as possible. Longshoremen jump in and drive these cars fresh off the ship and into a parking lot.Leave a comment:

that is really coolYes, it's true.
You can cycle thru your OBC display (Time, Date, MPG, Temp, etc...) by pushing the turn signal in towards the steering column on many E30's
Probably the Sport models and Verts, and maybe the IX
If you have the letters "BC" on your turn signal stalk, you have the ability to scroll thru your OBC display by pushing the stalk inwards towards the steering column.Leave a comment:

I was only a feature car this year. They just had me park there the year before because I was one of the R3V owners.Wait, Josh, you are telling me that you have had your car as a "feature car" twice at the Picnic, with projects like these...
And you didnt even know they folded? Wow. Just wow. I am disappointed in you. Just thought you should know.Leave a comment:

My favorite one is when I have someone in the passenger seat and they're looking all over the door panel for a window switch or window crank. When I point out the location of the switches I always get the reaction, "why did they put them there?"
The most truly odd car feature (and this is non-E30), is how Saab put the ignition switch in the center console by the e-brake handle. It always struck me as odd yet cool as well.

It's cool until something small gets dropped in there and you can't fully insert the key.
At least that's what Saab owners tell me.Leave a comment:

I found out the hard way too. Slammed myself into it on accident. I didn't know they folded towards the front too though.

Another oddity is Porsche putting the ignition on the left side of the wheel. But it makes sense... They put it there so their LeMans drivers could start the car and put it in gear at the same time.Leave a comment:
