If you were in my shoes...

So if you have $2000 to spend on your car and, you can't do a motor swap what would you do? Keeping in mind, I am rollin a '85 318i zinnobarrot and, it looks like someone lit a m80 on the hood.
Also if your girlfriend is always bitching that it is a pile. And you are kicking around the idea of making it a sleeper.
    what would you do?

I would opt for an M42 swap, even though you ruled out the idea of a swap. They're relatively cheap and it will be a significant power bump.

Given its low compression, an M10 will likely respond well to a turbo, but I'd bypass all of that and do the aforementioned M42 swap personally.

Motor swap is out of the question Trey.

For God's sake Danny, shut the fuck up. I addressed that in my post, modifying an M10 is fruitless.

Whatever the reason, be it an increase in homework, deer hunting, or practicing proper grammar; your decrease in posts per day has been much appreciated.

              Ahh, reading comprehension pwnz me.

Although modding an M10 is not fruitless in the least.

Also, why M42 and not m5x/s5x?

Not fruitless, eh? Maybe not for a 1600/2002 owner, because with the scant weight of those cars, they can reap the benefits of the smallest of power gains. Try throwing that motor in a car that weighs much more, then try "b00sting it" and you'll probably realize that time/expense could have been saved by opting for the M42.

Why not M50? Because there is more involved with that swap. More time, more money, etc. The guy said <$2000, to do an M42 swap, replace profile gasket, valve cover gasket, etc. wouldn't run over that amount.

                              Turbo will be difficult.

                              Do your research first.
