those are adaptors. To run adaptors you need a high offset wheel. If a 4 lug VW wants to run a 5 lug VW wheel, it needs to be converted to use a VR6 suspension or as I mentioned, the cheaper way of redrilling the front hubs. Also no one makes a 4x100 to 5x100 adaptor since there is over lap. You need enough metal for 2 complete patterns, that why 4x100 to 5x130 (porsche) is a popular one. Also late model porsche wheels have a high enough offest.
