if you are doing something like the OP is and just DUCTING the air to your cone filter hanging inside a heat shield, it is pretty unlikely that you will suck up water. you are just trying to force as much air (colder then engine compartment air) to the filter as possible

if you have the cone filter mounted down low where it can get into the water, yes you can suck in water. we used to call them straws.

yeah the way it is in the pics is just redirecting outside air into the conefilter area, but it could hook upto the stock airbox,or ram air filter.

How did you cut out the grille area? also what piping did you use?

nothing it cut I just took advantage of how the grill already is, Its basically all K&N parts except for the elbow.

I'm going to have a CF splitter made over the winter as well, and the fogs are already gone. So I think I'll enlarge the "faux" brake duct and pipe it in from there.

wow, go away, you dont even have an e30, and you say the same exact thing every post, I'm doing a 5 speed swap. my e30 runs amazing and i really want to start rallying an e30 so i'll be getting anther one pretty soon, I've driven plenty of manual cars and there all tons of fun but I got my e30 as an auto so oh well. the lot(pontiac) i got the car from said it had a shift kit, but its most likely just a drilled valve body. at least i can enjoy my e30 for what it is, its my reliable DD and i love it. and before you say it, yes i'm going to keep the bottle caps.
