Should be an easy one... apparently those of us performing auto to manual swaps on late model airbag cars dont know how the clutch return setup is designed.
I just ran a coil spring trough the whole in the arm of the pedal to the box. The pedal sat really tall but worked fine. Then about three days ago the spring snapped but my pedal still returns just fine so I said fuck it.
The best way is to weld the helper spring tab onto your automatic pedal box (after you ad the clutch pedal of course). I've done it though without putting a help spring in.. You really don't need it so that would save you having to weld a tab onto the box..
We are not asking for how you deal with it! We want to know what the stock box looks like, in how airbag cars have their clutch return mechanism set up.

It looks the same as a non air bag car. The difference is an airbag car has half of the steering column welded to it (It looks almost exactly like the e34 pictured above posted by Julien). Use your freaking imagination.. .
So, it is way easier to cut the tab off of a pedal box and then weld it to the air bag box.. Unless you feel like either A) not having half of your steering column B) Cutting off the steering column and moving that to the box that has the helper spring.
Can't you just swap the pedal box by cutting the rivet that holds it in?
That's what I did on my airbag'd e34

why bother.. my entire point was you don't need that spring at all; there isn't any difference between airbag manual/auto pedal boxes. removing the pedal box is way harder than swapping pedals.
