The stock HG on an M10 will hold 15psi with proper tuning, one good pre-detonation and you'll be putting a new one on. The motor is fine as is for at least 22psi ( I've run 25 for short periods ) With that baby turbo you won't be running more than about 10psi or so before it's starts making too much heat for the intercooler you have and the non existent engine management it seems you will be running.

Ebay has rebuild kits.
I was running 8psi with stock internals on VW 2.0L 8v motors - it's low boost and generally unharmfull. I know people who have run 18psi on those motors daily - I wouldn't recommend it though.
Just offering up what I can since I don't know much about these motors. Usually if you stay below 10psi, stock internals will be fine. 10psi will get you 200hp out of that VW motor and it's got less power then yours - so it should make it more fun atleast.Comment

If you still have a stock exhaust, I'd recommend bumping that up to a 2.25" or 2.5" system also.
People might hate on the junkyard kit, but it's a great learning experience, and if you F something up, you didn't spend top dollar on the part.Comment

turbo
ok guys, i dont know much about turbocharging but i want to have a go at it and learn as i go. after seeing the parts i have, help me make it work. i want 180-200 hp out of the car. i dont want to mess around with aftermarket engine management or ripping the engine apart. i just want the car to be quicker than it is and be able to have some fun. I need to use what i have and buy whatever else is needed. I dont care if its old school, just want it to be somewhat reliable and not to blow my engine up.
thanks guys.Comment

A year later and you still haven't done anything? You could have researched, built, blown and rebuilt this kit by now.Comment

Stealth turbos are ALOT smaller then that. I have one in my garage. Looks like a turbo off a Probe GT and the intercooler to go with it.1985 325e 2.8 Turbo VEMSComment

run them in a linear setup, smaller one first so spool the larger one faster, get a bigger intercooler. get the damn thing built. the smaller one probably won't provide boost over 5k rpms on the m20 so running them in a linear sequence will give you boost throughout the range.Comment
