    Help me out!!

Ok my oil is leaking not alot but i would find some drops all the time in the morning so I am guessing its oil pan gasket. Also my oil is pretty black so I changing my oil like next week and my friend told me that in order to change oil pan gasket I need to pick up the whole engine? is that truee He works at truck shop he fixes trucks, so he said he could do it for me, he can change the oil pan gasket, change the oil, clean the engine, change the oil filter, and he said he can do all of this for 100 bucks since i am his friend, he said they usually charge like 300-400 :) the whole process takes like 5 hours. soo is it true about picking up the whole engine to change oil pan gasket? and if hes saying the truth then 100 for all of this is pretty good isnt it?

see if you want to do this. I would gladly pay a hundred bucks if he can do it right and use quality parts. Isn't a filter, oil and the new gasket already 50 bucks or so?

Just make sure it's really pan gasket. I've had experience with oil leaking from drain plug and from between the engine and tranny. (what's that "gasket" there called in English?)

100USD for the oil, gasket, oil filter and labour? ...counting... WTF?? In here the oil costs about 70USD (5L), filter - 10USD, gasket - 30USD. 110USD total. Prices for repair shops are about 30% lower, but still - 100USD for all of it? Damn.

Yes and no. You could remove the subframe... I'd go for the engine pick up.

Then again, since you ask whether you neet to pick up the whole engine, try a different approach - keep the engine still on its level, and lower the rest of the car.

What thee fuck...first thing to do is find your damn oil leak.

Assuming it is a pan gasket is just plain retarded. Of all the shit that leaks on an M20, pan gasket is like #7 on the list...this is not a small block Chevy, this is a BMW.

If this is a '90 325i (might wanna detail your shit there a bit.) (yeah, I see your screen name but still...) the first culprit I would GUESS is oil cooler adapter, second would be oil pressure sensor, 3rd would be cam seal.

Get your car off the ground, clean some shit so you can see the actual leaks and take it from there.

Find the fucking problem before you attempt to fix it.

If your buddy actually knows what he is doing, he won't "guess" either. Seriously, guessing is for idiots.

              Now, go kick its ass.

I have my own parts oil, filter, and pan gasket. So i am basically paying just for the job

About the leak, he checked it out, and I checked it out and looks like its from oil pan gasket, but he will double check.

Still worth it cause its gonna take him way longer than an hour, which is the average labor rate around here.
