    Funny little clutch pedal problem

I'm having an issue with my pedal.

Sometimes (not always, but frequently) when driving, when I release the clutch pedal, it doesn't return 100% of the way. I can take my foot off the pedal, stick my toe behind it, and pull it towards me about a 1/4 inch (measured in my foot's eye.... no idea the actual distance).

What can be causing this? The clutch itself engages just fine, but I feel uncomfortable with the way the pedal behaves... especially because the crossover is very shallow.

    Any help?

Clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder. Most likely the master. About 60 bucks at your local parts store.

Every day I wake up we drink a lot of coffee and watch the CNN
Every day I wake up to a bowl of clover honey and let the locusts fly in.
    Lobsterbacks attack the town again
Wrap all my things in aluminum
Beams of darkness streak across the sky

Every time I look out my window same three dogs looking back at me.
Every time I open my windows cranes fly in to terrorize me.

          Transmission stays where it's at.

The clutch master is way the hell up under the dash...Kind of a job for a pro...Or at the very least a very patient dude.

no but it is a pain in the ass even with a lift.

It is connected to your clutch peddle. I had the hardest time getting the line to thread onto it after I put the new one in. If possible I suggest putting the line on the new master before mounting the new master up (I don't remember if this can really be done). Be careful when pulling the feed line off in side the car, don't spill break fluid every where and don't break the plastic nipple (7).

That looks like a major pain in the ass. I think I'll let my mech have a crack at this one.

Thanks for the help guys, at least I know where to start!

You can probably do it, but its just enough trouble to say fuck it and pay someone else to do it.

if the clutch engages and disengages fine, and the brake fluid level stays the same. I would be suspect to the return spring or air in the line. there's spossed to be some play in the clutch pedal

its easy to bleed the clutch system with two people. I don't know why people are saying you have to get under the car for the clutch master cylinder, its under the dash you can do it in your driveway. Yes its tight and you need some patients and the right tools. Have an empty container so when you do pull the clutch line off the master you have somewhere to put the fluid.

good point about the return spring. So were you able to pull the line that goes to the slave inside the car to get it off then? How did you bleed it with out getting under the car?

yea forgot about bleeding it once you got the master in...gotta get under the car for that. you can bench bleed the master so that Most of the air is removed, and you can probally get away without bleeding the system.
