"101 Performance Projects for your BMW 3 Series"

Has anyone picked up this book? I'm wondering if it's any good

    IIRC it's mostly e36 stuff.

Are there any worthy e30 performance books like this?

Its alright, not great. I think I used it to help me change brake pads for the first time and thats it. But it is mostly E36.

I'm sure it would be a little usefull. If you have a bentley manual probably not though.

My copy had a bunch of pages missing, and bunch of repeat pages.....Kind of gay. Never bothered to go back to B&N though so I can really bitch to much. FWIW other copies I've looked at are fine.

I haven't see it, but books like this are PERFECT for people starting out. You can sit in a cozy chair and read what is need for say a brake bleed with out going out to the garage and getting frustrated the first time trying.

My point is, it shows first timers how easy simple maintenance really is before they ever get their hands dirty.

Thats what I used my book for. While Bentley will have the info this actually walks you though some basic maintenance. It has basic info on turbos etc and how they work. But you aren't going to learn anything or figure out how to install one in from the book. Maybe a CAI but thats it. I used it for my suspension install too.

It's a great supplement to the bentley. Buy it.

Swing wild, brake later, don't apologize.

I have this book too. It's pretty useless unless you own an E36 or you've just bought your E30 and you've never worked on a car before. It would have been nice when I first started though.

I bought it, works well in conjuction with my bentley. I am still a relative noob when it comes to mechanics, and this helps a lot.

                              Plus I have an e36...
