Yeah, there's no doubt in my mind about the M30 or the G265, but it's all the other electronic gizmos and annihilated suspension components that I see being a problem.

I think it got like 6 mpg on the highway or something ridiculous like that.
If it got 6mpg on the highway it was fucked up. The V12 should get at least 23 on the highway... probably better.

I bought one after i wrecked my first e30. Managed to find a rare 5spd to. It was a great car, but after 3 weeks I traded it for another e30. Your either a 3 series kinda person, or a 5/7 series kinda person.

There good cars, not as much of a drivers car as the e30, but still good. My only problem was electrical issues.

That idea appeals to me - source up a clean E34 with M50 power & manual gearbox and drop in an S50/S52 motor with simple upgrades. 250bhp+ is a very realistic and achievable benchmark while still being a reliable car with decent economy if you don't bury the throttle too much.

I could imagine an E34 being alright with an S50/S52, but think about why the factory never did it... It's a heavy car. Yes, the S50/S52s can make a lot of horse power, but when you build an engine for high rpm power you generally don't have a ton of torque in the low and mid range, meaning you have to really wring it out to get going, especially in a heavy car. The 3.5 and 3.6 liter S38s were even criticized for their lack of low end torque in the E34s, so I would imagine an S50/S52 would feel even more gutless until you got them on the cams. An S50/S52 sounds like it would be just about worthless in an E32 seeing as how they make less torque than a stock M30B35 and the torque curve is peaky. A turbo M30B35 on the other hand... THAT would rock. Just my opinion, and I'm just throwing it out there...

chip and cams in an E32 + 5sp manual would be sweet.

The M30 only has one cam, but I still agree.

                      e34 > e32 for big sedan parties

It's all the good things about those boats but with more sport and cheaper parts.

I had no idea that people disliked the e32 so much.

                          My solution for a decent, sub-$7k über-saloon: E34 535i 5-speed, TCD Stage 2, staggered M-System I's. Done.

I'm with you there, that would be a sweet ride... You couldn't build it for $7k though. $7k MIGHT get you the TCD Stage 2 kit and wheels but then you still need a 535i 5 speed, tires, and the standard $500-$1000 in maintenance parts that most 15+ year old cars are going to need! All said and done though, it would be sweet.

Yeah, I meant a used TCD s2 kit, but considering those aren't terribly easy to find it might end up being just shy of the $10k mark...-ish.
