    Installing Magnaflow 14815 Muffler?

My new muffler just came in the mail today. Just wanted to know if I could just install it with some u-bolts myself for now or if I have to take it to the shop.

The muffler has a 2.25" single inlet and so would it fit directly? If not, what has to be done? Does an 88 325is have dual piping and what diameter?

Sorry, its just that the car is parked far away and I most likely won't get to it until Saturday so I just wanted to know beforehand.

Yes you'll have to make a Y pipe.

    Not sure on the diameter.

Not positive on the y pipe as I've got a 318 but good luck w/ getting the muffler off. Their on like no other w/ all of the heat that they've gone through. Odds are you'll have to cut it out either way. Not a huge deal, you could definitely do it at home. Just a lil something to possibly save a bit of trouble.

I'm guessing I couldn't do that so should I order one? Or have a shop take care of it?

If you have a welder and a lil knowledge its easy, or a lil patience and want to learn. Otherwise yes it would be worth it to just take it to a shop and have them do the work. Its not too expensive and worth the headache.

Yea I would love to learn but I guess I'll just take it to a shop. Any idea on around what it should cost for the y-pipe and installation? Just don't wanna get ripped off.

i had the same muffler on my red 325i. both downtubes pre-cat merged to a single 2.5", into a magnaflow 2.5" resonator in the middle and that muffler out back.

Been driving around all day with it. Makes the car twice as fun to drive and I love it. Its a little too bassy at low revs right now but so it'll break in?

Loud is fine. It's just really deep down low, but I'll get used to it.
