just to append: the retainer issue was solved with all 10/95 and latter S50s according to BMW CCA and the Turners.

DONT FORGET THE OIL PUMP GEAR NUT! It can effect all S50s and would prove fatal if not checked. Mine was tight but often they are not.
    Im now E30less.

If you're planning on keeping it make sure you can insure it. A lot of insurance companies won't insure a car with a salvage title.

Autotrader and roachfly advertisers are crackheads. The only group worse are CCA ads, most people think thier E36 is rare. Try and find someone who actaully reads the Blue Book.

You must be a crackhead. j/k

The kbb is only for regular cars. The E36 M3 might look regular, but it isn't to most owners. It it doesn't go by blue book prices, just like any other BMW M car doesn't go by kbb prices, think E30 M3 or E24 M6....

You do get what you pay for with used cars, spend a little more and you will get a nice clean car, again think E30 M3 that is for sale for 8k and has 200k miles and another E30 M3 for 15k with 75k miles, which one will be less of a headache????

My very mint 95' Avus Blue M3 with 112k miles comes up as 11,640 in the kbb.

I could sell it anyday here in SoCal for 16k or more.....

I sold my '95 Avus M3 last summer for $15,500 with 124k miles on it and a couple of dents. It did have a few mods like Schrick cams, euro hfm, 24# injectors, JC chip, AA exhaust, Koni adjustables, H&R Sports, AA strut brace, euro elipses, etc.

It sold on the net to a guy in Virginia.

I think in So Cal it's a diferent market - it seems that everyone wants to go to a e46 m3, and has dropped the price of e36 m3's....

It sounds like all e30 m3's seems to be getting to that point that they need a rebuild (what say $5k for a rebuild?). So you have to take that into account when buying a e30m3 right? But over all the price of e30 m3's are not dropping - where as e36 m3's seem to be slowly falling since the release of the e46 m3...anyone else notice this?

Don't forget the plastic-impeller water pump issue either. Eesh...

'95 M3 steering racks own all.
