    Really awesome inspection

My car passed inspection with flying colors, and im stoked!

I wanted to know if numbers like this are normal for an E30 tho? My 1985 325e didnt even come close to this.

This is a 1988 325ic with a 200mi old magnaflow direct fit cat, OEM tailpipe/muffler, and a recent valve adjustment.

anyone seen numbers like this? it was also about 50 degrees out and the temp was at midrange.

No, it's not super low, just a clean car.

The NOx would be higher if you were running lean.

really? i thought all emissions increased with rich running condition...how does that work?

yes, except for the formation of NOx, which occurs at combution higher temps. (lean = hotter)

I passed a test last month after a seafoam and oil change.. (Ontario test, btw.)

                    40km/h rolling dyno test:
                    HC limit 60 reading 37
                    CO% limit 0.33 reading 0.07
                    NO ppm limit 675 reading 25 (!!!)

                    idle test:
                    HC limit 200 reading 70
                    CO% limit 1.00 reading 0.05

My jaw dropped when I saw the rolling NOx numbers. Last year I blew a 880ppm. Since then, I've done that seafoam and made sure basic maintenance is 100%. Sure is a good feeling. :)

Mine were even lower but I'm pretty sure it was due to the hole in the exhaust.

got mine done yesterday... Original Cat with over 200K. I seafoamed the day before. My numbers were actually a little lower.

How is that Magnaflow Direct fit? I need to replace the cat in my other beater. Is it as direct fit at it claims?

they make a direct fit that has the downpipes

it needs some massaging with large tools to line up correcttly

                            but it does fit

and you can get it pretty damn cheap

is your other beater a E or I?

i have a used magnaflow system for an E that i wold sell you for cheap

if you need an I system

                            call www.performancepeddler.com

and ask them for maganflow part number 23554

                            thats the system

they have lower than ebay prices and free shipping

the mount is the only thing that does not fit, so dont even bother to try and make it fit if oyu have a 5 speed, unless you weld on a hangar

they hangar that comes on the unit is made for auto trans on both systems E and I

                              Beater is an 88is
so it actually not the exact OEM specification as stated in the description.

I can get it for under 275 shipped.. seems like the best deal I am going to find.
