Try a 3.25 or 3.46 at most. 3.73 will not be a good experience on the highway. You'll be cruising at 70 and be about 1500 rpm off redline.

my old eta came with the 4.10 stock, threw it in my 325i with the m20 and a chip and it was a rocket...

now i have a m30 and i use the 3.73 and dont have any problems with 1st gear or freeway cruising for that matter.

The 3.15 also came in Z3 M Coupes, if I remember right. Those diffs (specific to those cars) also have badass diff covers with cooling fins.

I think i might keep my open in the yards for a 3.25 or if im lucky, a 3.15.. I guess they came on 533is and 535is

They never made a 533is. Most US-bound E28 535is' had an optional 3.25 LSD. Swiss E28 535is'/M535i's had a couple different ratios available (including 3.45 and 3.15.) Dogleg G265CR's came with 3.07 LSD, and post-9/86 535iA's had an optional 3.45 LSD.

I've got a 3.25 lsd that I pulled from an E30.

Edit: I also have a 3.23 unlimited slip from an E30.

They are around, just harder to find than the regular ratios.
