I like it best when you see your hometown junkyard make it into the FS threads. As someone locally is ripping the cars apart then selling them via the boards before you even have a chance to get anything, and yes they ship, so now your local yard is getting picked over by people across the US. Or if you wanted a part they already bought it and are willing to sell it to you for a fee of course. The part and what they paid, what they think ripping it out was worth and some kind of amount they think they are owed. That kind of shit really pisses me off, even more when E30's are way hard to come by.

^^^ I've caught assholes posting about local yards and what they're stealing planning to resell.
I share the identities of these thieves and they don't even say thanks. At best I get a blank stare. I offered to write them a ridiculously easy year/make/model lister for a free blog/website so they could draw more business. That earned me a bewildered look like I'd just landed in a spaceship. Even though few others obey it, I am careful to follow the hood up/no engine, windows shut/good interior rules.
I give two craps about my resources, but sometimes it's just not worth caring. At the very least, they've seen me enough they don't have me empty my tool pack every time I leave now. Heck, I could probably make a buck hanging around with tools just like the guy with the cutting rig on wheels.- Sco

Right now there's a set of junk/torn sport seats on CL and the guy wants $200 for them, and $100 for a cracked dash.
I don't really know what the guy who's ripping out the cluster is looking for. ODO gears, I guess, all the speedos are pulled but also tossed back in the car."Life is hard...it's a lot harder if you're stupid."

My yard preps the cars before putting them out in the yard, Myself and e30turboboy go spy and see whats going out, we know the yard guys so they let us know when. we go as soon as it hits the ground and get what we want. We scored TONS of great stuff, 2 100k runing m50's for $100 each.
whats wrong with everyone being an entrepreneur? If i see some one selling a part for $5 bucks that I could sell for 55 bucks I buy it. If you saw a 50 dollar bill on the ground on the ground would you walk past it and say " oh i dont want to be an asshole" ?
If you want to get the good parts network and wake up early

What if you and I had a beer and I dropped a $100 bill. Since you only know me from online it would be ok to keep it?

There is nothing wrong with being an entrepreneur, why not do it right? Say, get a business license, lease a building, track down wrecks, dismantle and catalog.
I know, let's support the bills that are being presented in legislature that would prevent us from working on our own cars. We don't really know what we're doing anyway.
On second thought, why don't you leave the junkyard for those of us who need the parts to fix our cars.
If you should compare yourself to Walmart, the you should offer that part you picked up for $5, at $5.50 and have an unlimited supply."Life is hard...it's a lot harder if you're stupid."

r3v, home of the "redistribution of junkyard parts" thread.
If you depend on the junkyard to keep your car running, you need to ride the bus. Otherwise, stop bitching about cheap junkyard parts being first come, first serve.
And i already expressed my anger with wanton destruction, this is a different matter.

Its been awhile since I've seen anything on the bill here in Ca. Kragen Auto Parts had a campaign to defeat the bill. I think the last one did die. What's better is there is a federal bill that has been introduced to protect our right to repair our own vehicles.
