I'd say the most desired e30 is a Z1. Its still an e30 at heart.

My .02 cents: 88 or 89 325is. I restored a M3 (with all 2.5 EVOIII engine mods). Not a big fan of the s14 - even in EVOIII guise it's not very fast - certainly not enough to put up with the buzz and vibration. For me, the 325is is a better all around car to which most of the good M3 stuff can be added.
