Let me give you a heads-up on the way things work with european vacations and yard rumaging. It doesnt happen. Not unless you know where to go or know people that know where to go. And we're talking big yards and at least a couple because they've already been scored. And do you have tools?

Yeah, maybe you'll find a yard and through the thick of their confusion of why in the world an american wants to rummage through old shitty euro cars and waste their time, you walk away with a german check or two and some euro grills... thats about all thats going to happen.

My point is, if you dont know what youre doing and going for, its a COMPLETE waste of time and it will blow your trip unless you've got it all in the bag.

If you find a yard and they happen to let you in, just go for anything small with german writing. Everything else is too big to cary back with you.

The way that it works best is a resident makes friends with the yards and they pull the parts in an agreement that he'll basicly be buying everything. Then that person sells to someone with the means of importing a large amount of goods (me) and sells to the US.
See my girl is from Europe and she has family their. I am trying to lay the ground work now.

where are you going to be going?

chances are you arent even going to find any e30s in a German yard anymore. e30s are dinos over here and the cars arent worth keeping around for all the small yards here. there is no money involved in keeping an old car that noone wants any parts off of. ask your GF, everyhting is pretty much on a smaller scale in comp. to the U.S.-- the junkyards are a joke(most)- most are equal to a yard behind a trailer anywhere in Oklahoma.

and as stated before, you probably arent going to even be allowed to just rummage through a yard here- esp. if you dont speak the language.

                  just trying to help.

your better bet is to buy stuff off of ebay.de and have it sent to your relatives-- then take it home from there. 90% of the time ebay is cheaper than most of the yards anyway.

My location in Asia has mostly European E30 and can get small stuff for cheap. But shipping charge will make these parts so $$$$, I don't think anyone will be intersted.

Unless you do hand carry, then it's not really worth the effort.

That's what I was going to say, wait I guess that means +1 (especially if she has relatives in Germany). Just have them get the transaction done and ship it to you. Enjoi your vacation and look around the country for cripes sake!!

I will be doing some research on finding out what junkyards are and what they have. Any performance parts I should look into buying from a store?
I will like to find Euro chrome bumpers, alpina wheels, washer wipers for headlights, nice steering wheel, Smileys, any eiuro spec performance parts i can bring back.

you are quite dense aren't you?

3 people have told you the truth about finding parts on a european vacation. read your own thread again.

it's hard as hell to find junk yards here. most don't have E30's anymore.

if you don't speak german, they will most likely not help you.

                              ebay.de is your friend.

                              e30.de is your friend.

ship them to your "family" then when you arrive, ship the parts home.

I tried to find a junkyard in Japan, apparently it was like a 45 minute drive from the nearest train station, and almost impossible for a foreigner to find :(
