I am very familiar with that one. It would be a shame to find the rust at that extent... but for $500... you cant tell me you wouldnt get it.
I'm guessing it could be close to this condition due to their attitude about wanting to get rid of it for cheap. The kid was talking about how he drove it in HS and worst thing he did with it was smoke (weed?) in it. I'm sure its been romped on. Then he went on about his broncoII so proof enough they dont know what they have, as fortunate or unfortunate as that may be.

well, if it is what it is supposed to be... that will be a tough one. but they are acting really friendly and happy to let me have it.
i'm supposed to call them to schedule inspection and pickup. better believe this will be a restore project of some sort.

but seriously, i think i'll play it with the genuine enthusiasts attitude playing it cool - truely grateful yet not overly so.
I had bad dreams the next following nights, along the lines of them realizing they could get 4k for it and jacking the price. hell, i still hope that doesnt happen but they did say $500 would be great.

There was some guy locally who had his '86 325es listed on Craigslist as an M3 for $1500. I called within 30 seconds, and within another 30, discovered it was some douche trying to sell his son's shitty E30, who'd stuck an M3 badge on the trunklid.
