    My M50 Needs Speech Lessons

    Ok, so my E30; a '91 with an M52 bottom end and M50 top end, is having a lot of hesistation/stuttering problems. Under acceleration, it bogs down and almost cuts off. Then, it will spike back up and run normally, acting like nothing ever happened.

    I don't see any vaccuum leaks from the intake boot and the check engine light is on (it may just be that way from the swap but it flickers every once in a while). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hmm, kind of sounds like what my car did (91 525 w/m50) when my o2 sensor was bad. Try unplugging it and see if the car runs normal with it unplugged. Its an easy and free thing you can try in a matter of minutes. Good luck.

      unfortunately, the o2 sensor is welded into the exhaust...

          That being said, I'm putting money on it being your crank/cam position sensor.

            Like others have said, that obviously wasn't the greatest of ideas. But even still, you should be able to simply disconnect it at the harness...

              after further inspection, the o2 sensor isnt welded in as i thought. I think it may be an intake manifold leak.

                    This problem just reared its ugly head again. The only thing could be the crank/ cam positioning sensor? I'm about to take a trip to the beach and I would love to not have to stand on the side of the road..

                        im having that same problem i just have a diffferent motor.. a guy i know suggested i clean the afm so maybe you should do that and see what happens.. if you fix it some other way let me know ive been fighting it for 4 months now and have replaced a bunch of different things

                            My car did this. I had a tear in the intake boot. I checked it over twice, then the third time I found a big slice in it.
