Limited slip can increase the chance of the rear comming loose while making turns under power right? Since the wheels will want to trun at the same speed.

I have an lsd sitting around but i don't have the time to swap it. Would it really be better to put an lsd?

Yea you really want that LSD, without it, the wheel with the least resistance will get all the driving power, not good.

Oh and I'd remove the IS lip if you have one

Theres portions that require chains if the weather is bad. Once up the mountain there is no need for them but sometimes I see some 6x6 Unimogs with chains, sounds cool on the pavement.

be sure to start the car a few times in between runs if the temp drops too low!! We had a frozen fuel pump once, stuck up at mountain high for 3 hours after closing banging the fuel pump in single digits temps is no fun, believe me.

Yes it will prevent you from getting stuck when you have 1 tire on good traction and the other on ice or hard pack snow.

Moneyshift chains are not illegal as he may be stopped to see if he has them in the car period while going up the mountian. Sometimeseven the 4x4 and awd drive guys get the check to in that commie state we call California

We got turned around in my 4x4 F150. And this was the local mountains in San Diego County. Def. Bring some for Big Bear cause they don't have the checkpoint until you are halfway to the resort, its a long way back to get chains for about 4 times what walmart will charge for them. It has been pretty wet but you should be fine, I made it up and around with my E34 on some Z rated summer tires before.

It's been pretty snowy lately here in Colorado, and as such I've not been driving the E30 much. I got the brilliant idea to drive it on saturday....let me tell you, 195 RT-615 Azenis do NOT work at all on snow, and when they get cold enough (i.e. <30deg) they turn into little frozen balls of wheelspin on asphalt (w/ 4.10 lsd @ 1500rpm). Entertaining, but.....that's about it.

Get snow tires, they are infinitely superior to chains.
