Well I understand how ridiculous things have to be for
the term ricer to be thrown at a car for some people but
around here you hardly see anything like what you've been
describing except in certain cases except for young mexican
dudes (no racism, they really just do it) who go to autozone
with their honda and a paycheck, head to aisle 4 and go apeshit
    with stickers and fake chrome.

Usually the term to me gets assigned to any jdm-esque vehicle in
which the owner modifies beyond stock especially if the mod is a loud
exaust. I suppose it isn't fair for those people but I just want you guys to
understand where I'm coming from instead of being picked apart :).

It's true. People try to make their cars JDM and fail. From what I've seen it's really bad with Hondafags in the USA. A left hand drive Civic with Sportmaxx wheels is far from JDM but they will all rep that shit to death.

Even my AE86, although built to proper Japanese style and taste is not JDM as it was an Australian delivered car.
I just don't want to be lumped in with the ricers with chrome wheels, stupid body kits, vinyls and flame thrower exhausts that NFSU popularized.

Modified japanese cars are not rice. Any car can be rice.

Pointless modifications for the aesthetics, that hinder performance and handling, or just look awful to the trained eye are rice. I've seen just as many riced out E30's as I have riced out japanese cars.

    Rice

    Not rice
